Sixth Attempt at Voyage A Sydney taxi-driver, Mr George O'Brien, with his wife and 9-year-old | son, have reached Lord Howe Island, i after a 16 days' voyage in the ketch I Hispaniola, at the sixth attempt. On five attempts last year, Mr O'Brien had to turn back.
War Loan Oversubscribed The Bank of Canada announced that the war loan has been oversubscribed. The subscriptions for two days total 248,804,000 dollars. The books will remain open for applications from distant communities.
