BLUFF SHAKEN
WHISTLING BUOY EXPLODES By Telegraph—Press Association INVERCARGILL, January 17. A workman had a miraculous esca. e from serious injury at Bluff t'' day when 10-ton whistling buoy wlr.ch was being repaired on th'’ Ferry Wharf exploded with such violence that most of the town was shaken. The buoy, which broke adrift from -’-airchild Rock, Foveaux Strait, some time ago, was being el ctrically welded ./hen a piece about two feet square blew < ..t with terrific force. The workman was not injured and fortunately no one was in the main line of the e-;-»losion. Many windows in the oyster cannery about 20 yard, away we extensively cracked by the orce o the explosion, and in the factory office a tides were dislodged -from shelves.
