GER ALPINE FEWER CAMPERS THIS YEAR

SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS AT GROUNDS Although high praise has been spoken of the Geraldine motor camp by those who made use of it during the Christmas and New Year period fewer camps were erected this year than last holidays. The first campers arrived in the grounds on November 3 and to date not more than 40 campers have made use of the ground. When the site in the Little Park was first made into a camping ground i more than 60 camps were registered ' and each holiday period until this season has showed a steady increase. Last year more than 90 camps were erected in the grounds. The caretaker of the camp (Mr R. Waller) told a representative of the “Herald” that the camp had not been empty since Christmas. Campers, he said, were greatly impressed by the camp and its easy access,, to the recreation grounds and town. .Improvements suggested by campers, he concluded, was an electric light in the shed and also a sliding door. CYCLIST FRACTURES THIGH Mr Walter Scott of Peel Street, Geraldine, aged 79 years, had the misfortune to fracture his thigh when he fell from his bicycle in Talbot Street on Tuesday afternoon. He was attended by Dr. L. C. Mail and conveyed to Braeside Private Hospital where his condition is satisfactory. PERSONAL The Town Clerk (Mr C. L. Kirby) who has been on annual vacation has returned from a visit to Southland. Mrs J. M. H. Tripp, ‘Silverton,” Geraldine, is visiting Wellington. Mrs J. Inglis, Dunedin, who has been visiting Wellington, is spending a short holiday in Geraldine. Mrs J. Baguley and family, Sumner, who are spending a holiday at Pleasant Valley, are the guests of Mr and Mrs H. R. Bailey.
