Shark Attacks Lifesaver
Remarkable fortitude was shown by Douglas Bright, aged 22, one of Queensland’s leading lifesavers, when he was attacked by a shark at Southport. Fighting off the shark alone, he called to three companions to keep together, then swam nearly 200 yards unaided to the shore, leaving a trail of blood. He was admitted to hospital in a serious condition with two large gashes in his chest and stomach.
