RESIGNATION IS ’ TENDERED

Continuous Service For Forty Years Matron Of New Plymouth Hospital By Telegraph—Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, January 16. After nearly 40 years continuous service with the Taranaki Hospital Board, for 23 of which she has occupied the position of matron of the New Plymouth Hospital, Miss R. A. Campbell to-day tendered her resignation to the board" to take effect from July 31. Miss Campbell joined the hospital staff as a trainee in December, 1900, continued to serve the hospital after completing the training course and was appointed matron in June. 1917. Miss Campbell is president of the New Plymouth branch of the Registered Nurses’ Association of New Zealand, and a member of the Nurses and Midwives Registration Board of the Dominion. Miss Campbell has always taken the keenest interest in everything pertaining to the advancement and welfare of her profession and to the Improvement of hospital services, and public acknowledgment was made of her outstanding services when she received the M.8.E.. in the New Year Honours conferred last year. She is a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs J. Taylor Campbell, of Dunedin, her sister, Miss M. Campbell, was for many years a member of the office staff of the hospital board, from which she resigned recently.
