Having recently retired from the position of commissioner of police for Rangoon City, Mr R. G. B. Lawson has arrived at Auckland with the intention of settling permanently at Kerikeri. Mr Lawson, who at his retirement also held the appointment of deputy inspector-general of police for North Burma, visited New Zealand on furlough last year and he then left his wife and family at Kerikeri while he returned to Burma.

Dr. H. W. K. Mowll, Archbishop of Sydney, will visit New Zealand shortly to preach at a service in Nelson Cathedral oh February 14, immediately before the opening of the General Synod. The visit is regarded as a gesture of good will to the New Zealand Church in the Centennial year and a tribute to its retiring Primate, Archbishop Averill. A related fact is that Bishop W. G. Hilliard will leave this year to become bishop in the Diocese of Sydney.
