New Zealand waters teem with fish. Long ago. Captain James Cook, on his voyage of discovery, was struck by their abundance. They were a main and constant source of food to the coastal Maoris of yore. To-day line and seine and trawl still yield a silver harvest to those who choose to wrest their living from the Ocean of Kiwa.
