MASS MEETING TO BF HELD
LIFTING OF RESTRICTIONS IS OBJECT By Telegraph—Press Association HAMILTON. November 21. To enable all businessmen and employees to attend a mass meet j of farmin’ and business interests to urge the Government to repeal its restrictive legislation and assist farmers to a greater degree in their efforts to increase production, all shops ia Hamilton will close for a half day on December 4. This decision was made to-day at a meeting in Hamilton of representatives of retailers, employees, the Farmers Union. Associated Motor Trades. Sou ’i Auckr d Carrier’s Association, Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, Ha mi- x Master Builders’ Association, Plankton Tobacconists’ Association a I representatives of the retailers of Morrinsville. The Mayor of Hamilton, Mr H. D. Caro, presided over the meeting which made arrangements for a mass meeting on December 4 wr. i representatives of all the above organisations and other interested secticns of the community will attend. To-day the meeting adopted a resolution stating: “Seeing that the Government is making paramount ’he prosecution of the war, with which attitude this meeting is entirely m accord, we feel that this counuj. -o meet its obligations ar. I carry out the principle of pay as we go, must follow in the footsteps of Great Britain with business as usual. In this direction tha Government should give every’ consideration and a astance to the tamer in help’ - , proc’uc lon and to th* trader to secure stocks to enable nim to assist in supplying the taxation which is necessary and to maintain employment.”
