MOTORIST GAOLED FOR 21 DAYS By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, November 21. Arrested after his car had backed Into another car in Crummer Road on the evening of November 9, William George McLoughlin, a waterslder, aged 31, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court to-day to intoxication while in charge of a car. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of an unregistered firearm, namely, a revolver, which he said he had found among his deceased mother’s effects and intended throwing in the harbour. The accused’s counsel said that at the time of the accident, the car had run out of petrol and the accused was backing it down an incline when it hit the other car. The police said the accused was fined £lO in 1937 on an intoxication charge. Mr R. W. McKean, SM„ passed sentence of 21 days’ imprisonment on the intoxicated charge and cancelled McLoughlin's licence for two years. For having a revolver he was fined £2 and for being in possession of an unregistered firearm 10/-. The revolver was ordered to be forfeited.
