FOUND AT HASTINGS
ESCAPEES FROM OPOTIKI LOCK-UP By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, November 21. Three youths who were being held in custody awaiting a police escort to take them to Auckland, escaped from the lock-up at Opotlkl early on Monday morning. Their absence was discovered at 5 o’clock. All three were arrested at Hastings, where they arrived by car. One of the party. Raymond George Sheppard, aged 18, had pleaded guilty in the Opotlkl Magistrate’s Court on Friday to charges of the conversion of a car at Onehunga and breaking and entering and theft at Opotiki. He was committed to the Supreme Court, Auckland, for sentence. Similar charges were preferred in the Children’s Court against the remaining youths, who were aged 16. On the application of the police, they were remanded to the Children’s Court at Auckland.
