SEADOWN At the September meeting of the Seadown Women’s Institute, Mrs Ward presided over a fair attendance of members. An appeal from the Makogai Leper Station was received. A parcel of goods from the Soldiers’ Civil Reestablishment League was received and some sales made. It was decided to hold a pound day at the next meeting, members to bring a pound of something useful for the pantry of the Stratheona Training Hostel. Afternoon tea was supplied by the hostesses, Mesdames Oldfield and H. Hewson. The competitions resulted as follows: Lacework on vases, senior: Mrs J. McCully 1, Mrs W. Cain 2; junior: Miss M. Edgar (equal) 1. Three kinds of biscuits, senior: Mrs Paterson 1; junior: Miss M. Edgar 1, Miss D. Kennedy 2. Vase of spring flowers, senior: Mrs Brosnahan 1, Mrs Cain 2; junior: Miss M. Edgar 1 and 2.
