September 11. “The men will go into tents with wooden floors to start with, but huts will be erected as soon as possible,” said the Minister of Defence (the Hen. F. Jones), when discussing the mobilisation centres for New Zealand troops The Minister added that the Government was out to do all that it possibly could to see that the men in camp were made as comfortable as they could be under training conditions. “We are pushing on with the work in the mobilisation centres, and we are trying to see that everything is in order for the reception of the men in about three weeks,”’ the Minister continued. The Minister explained that the cc - - struction of the canips was in '-.e hands of the Public Works Department, on behalf of the Defence Department. He said that the work was being pushed on as rapidly as possible at tlie three centres.
