SAVING OF LIFE

CLASSES FOR TEACHERS By Telegraph—Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, June 22. Moved by the desire of the Minister of Education Jo fur .her the efforts to reduce the accident and drowning fatality rate, nearly 300 Taranaki teachers are to hear weekly lectures and receive demonstrations at 12 centres on first aid treatment, instruction in which they will give pupils in the third team of this year. They represent about 80 per cent of the profession in the Taranaki education district. When the scheme was mooted the St. John Ambulance Association undertook to deliver courses of instruction to classes of children, but that method was not suitable in Taranaki, where the system of instruction has provided an example of public -piritedness on the part of teachers, doctors and St. John Ambulance Association officers.
