Pleace Replace the Turf
| Several divots are being taken at
| Highfield and are not being replaced. The committee draw attention to the necessity for replacement of turf during the dry spell. Several new members apparently do not realise the serious effect that the non-replacement of turf | has on the course. Rules Revised The local rules of the Temuka Club have been altered in view of the changes in the course w'hich have taken place since the rules were first framed. As there are many cross-fences cutting across fairways it was thought that many of the penalties exacted were unfair in that a good shot, or what may have been a perfect one, was likely to carry a penalty for striking a ’erce which, from a golf pome of view had no right to be there. As the playing of a ball which had fouled a fence from the place where the stroke was made would hold up play considerably, it was thought wise to disregard this provision as again the player who had duffed a shot could claim he
same privilege. Wherever practicable however, the new rules have altered the penalties to make them more consistent with general rules.
