PRESENTATION
The staff of the South Canterbury Electric Power Board gathered on Tuesday afternoon to bid farewell to MSss M. S. Kennedy, who will leave shortly for Wellington after nine years’ service in the Geraldine and Temuka offices of the Board.
In presenting Miss Kennedy with a handbag and gloves, the chairman of the Board (Mr G. Dash) wished her every happiness in her new life. He said it appeared that since a bachelor Prime Minister assumed office, a stream of the brightest and best of the girls was irresistably drawn to the Capital City! The secretary (Mr W. A. Foden) remarked that it was rather unusual that the chairman should be present to hand over the gift to Miss Kennedy, as she was the daughter of a previous chairman, the late Mr J. Kennedy. He was sorry to see Miss Kennedy go as she had proved herself to be an excellent officer.
Mr G. W. Morrison said it was a very sad occasion for everyone, as Miss Kennedy had been of the greatest assistance at all times, both in and out of the office. He also wished her success in Wellington. Miss Kennedy, who was accorded musical honours, made a happy speech in reply.
