PHYSICAL TRAINING
SYDNEY HOUSEWIVES SYDNEY, April 8. Because they do not think they will be able to run for cover during air raids, Sydney housewives are going to start physical training. Mrs Eleanor Glencross, president of the Housewives’ Association, has initiated the move.
The women of the association intend to spend their mornings in the clubrooms practising deep breathing and modified phyiscal jerks. “A lot of us would just collapse if we tried to run for shelter during a raid,” said Mrs Glencross yesterday, “It is very necessary that we should get into better condition.”
Mrs Glencross said that any women who wished would be permitted to take part in the exercises. They would also be given training in first aid. The association intends to offer free membership for a year to all women immigrants.
