IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR DISCUSSION By Telegraph —Pres? Association WELLINGTON, March 29. Several important recommendations by the Commissioner of Transport, Mr G. L. Laurenson, will be discussed at a meeting of the Road Safety Council to-morrow under the main headings of compulsory dipping of headlights, safety g.’iss for all cars, rear lights for bicycles, blue lights for large lorries and trailers, new provisions as to pedestrian crossings and safety zones, new signs at intersections and the general enforcement of the traffic regulations. Tile council at its last meeting approved the report of the vehicle lighting sub-committee making certain recommendations concerning headlight adjustments and dipping of lights. These proposals were referred to the motor organisations. They concur with them, and the new requirements will be incorporated in the proposed amendments to the traffic regulations which are to be reviewed this year.
