People who are requiring good fruit, cheap, for jam and bottling, should ring or attend the auction sale at 9.30 this morning at Morton and Co.’s Mart. Huge supplies of fruit are arriving and must be cleared. At 12.30 poultry will be offered, including a special line of 20 Australorp hens, account Mr F. Wilson, Washdyke. Also a 12 h.p. Morris saloon car (1936 model) will be offered by auction at 2 p.m., on account of the Public Trustee, acting in the estate of the late David Miller. The car has been carefully driven by the one owner and will stand any inspection.
Card enthusiasts are assured of a good night’s entertainment on Saturday night in the Wentworth Hall, when good prizes and supper will be given.
To-day at 1.30 p.m. at the Wentworth Auction Mart, Runciman, Pryor, Ltd. will hold a sale of electrolux, piano, furniture, bikes, radio, ranges, carpets,, clothing, etc.
Miss Dorothy Thwaites, a well-known teacher of dancing, will arrive on Monday next to take up permanent residence in Timaru. Miss Thwaites will give to dance students the advantage of the latest knowledge in all branches of dancing for stage, K.A.D. exams, and competition work.
The Timaru South School’s annual picnic will be held at the Temuka Domain to-morrow. Hot water, tea, milk and sugar- will be provided.
H. Allchurch and Co. will hold their Rialto sale to-day, commencing at 10 o'clock with 750 cases of fruit; also for sale concrete wash tubs, etc. Details will be seen in the auction columns.
.One London church situated in Hammersmith, now has its own milk bar, as well as a young men’s hostel and a home for homeless men.
