Stern warnings to Holland, that she is prejudicing her neutrality, and her relations with Germany, are issued in diplomatic correspondence on the shots at the Amsterdam Consulate. The warning adds: “Holland must consider whether her open-heartedness and indulgence for the destructive Jewish influence is still justified, when it endangers Germans accredited to Holland. Mr Vernon Dartlett, writing in “The News Chronicle,” says: “The violence of the German campaign against Holland, as the result of the shooting incident, strengthens the fears that Herr Hitlgr’s next attack may be directed at the Netherlands. This is evoking considerable anxiety. There are hints that Germany will endeavour to compel Holland to change her foreign policy by economic pressure, involving discrimination respecting Rhine shipping, the diversion of Belgian trade through Antwerp Instead of Amsterdam, and the reduction of imports of agricultural produce from Holland.
