Thej* have a lot of hard work to put in, and they have once again begun to collect old and unwarted toys which they can repair and renew for poor [children, who, if it-were not for the Scouts, would not realise there is a i Father Christmas. Boy Scouts in many parts of England and New Zealand carry out this yearly [ good-turn. Some districts rent shops [ where they can collect the toys and use the premises as toy hospitals. [ Toys which have met with the most ! serious accidents are taken to the "toy i hospitals.” and the people who take I their children’s unwanted dolls, train [ sets, rocking horses, and the like, to ■ the Scouts often remark: “Thank good- , ness that's out of my way,” never I realising ttat the broken after it has been patched up by some Scout "docj tor” will bring joy to some poor kiddie. Troop rooms, Rover dens and church halls are other places which are used for toy clearing stations, and it is surprising to see the Scouts set many broken down mechanical men, rocking horses that do not rock, and dolls that will go to sleep, working again.
