Major-General B. C. Freyberg, V.C., D. 5.0., was recently appointed a director of the Birmtagham Small Arms Company. Judge W. H. Mocatta, a retired Judge of the New South Wales District Court, who has been on a short visit to New Zealand, has returned to Australia. The Rev. R. Carson, M.A., of Addington, has arrived in Timaru. He is to succeed the Rev. H. G. Norris as assistant priest at St. Mary’s Church. Mr T. M. Ball, inspecting engineer for the Public Works Department, is visiting Mid-Canterbury with Mr F. Langbeta, District Public Works Engineer, to make an inspection of irrigation works there. Mr K. G. Tucker, of the head office staff of the Wellington Tramways Department, came third, equal, in the recent examination conducted by the Australasian Institute of Cost Accountants. He tied for that honour with Mr R. Pattison, Victoria. The examination was open to accountants throughout Australia and New Zealand. Mr N. Forbes, agent for the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand Ltd. at Balfour, has received notice of transfer on promotion to Longburn, Palmerston North, where he will join the company’s freezing works staff. Mr Forbes will leave Balfour early next year. He will be succeeded by Mr A. K. Wilson, of the Gore staff.
