DEATH AND DESTRUCTION IN MANILA United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright (Received December 9, 5.5 p.m.) MANILA, December 9. A terrific typhoon swept over the provinces in the south-east of Manila, leaving thousands homeless and disrupting communications and causing widespread floods and extensive damage to property and crops. Eighteen are reported dead.
