The Federal Governmnet’s opening of a recruiting rally in Martin Place during the city lunch hour to-day was marked by angry scenes in which leading Communists figured whilst distributing their own handbills, which the majority of the crowd regarded as offensive. Heated arguments occurred and Communist speakers were howled down. Police were compelled to disperse noisy groups.
