ISLAND LANDSLIDE
DEATH-ROLL REACHES 107 ASSISTANCE FOR SUFFERERS British Official Wireless (Received December 2, 6.20 p.m.) RUGBY, December 1. The Governor of the Windward Islands (Mr Henry B. Popham) has telegraphed the Colonial Office further particulars supplied by the Administrator of St. Lucia (Mr E. W. Beynes) of casualties in the recent landslide in the island. The latest figures are that a total of 107 is known or assumed to be dead. The cases of a further 12, reported to be missing, are being investigated. The Governor expresses the very deep appreciation of the Colony for grants totalling £16,000 voted by the British Government towards the relief of sufferers and for antl-malarian measures. The sum of more than £2OO has been raised privately in Grenada, supplemented by gifts of stores and clothing. .
