Mr and Mrs T. Y. Wardrop, Christchurch, who were guests at the Grosvenor returned home yesterday. Mrs W. Sumpter: Kurow, arrived yesterday to stay with Mrs F. Newton, Maltby Avenue. Miss Nora Fleming, who has been spending a holiday with Mr and Mrs Alan Fleming has returned to Christchurch. Mrs Alan Shand, Te Weka Street, who was a visitor to Christchurch for the marriage of Miss Halmai Loughnan returned home on Thursday. The engagement is announced of Elsie, daughter of Mr and Mrs F. B. Sanders, Timaru and Alex Thomas, son of the late Mr and Mrs T. D. Taylo", Christchurch. Being the final meeting of the year, the programme was of a social character, and opportunity was taken to make a presentation to Miss N. Lloyd in view of her departure from Timaru early in the New Year on a trip abroad. Miss J. Simpson, president of the club, in presenting Miss Lloyd with a diary, expressed appreciation of her contribution to the life of the club, and wished her a very successful tour.
