OTAHUHU DISPUTE

RESOLUTION BY A.S.R.S. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, November 9. The Executive Council of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants has issued the following statement in connection with the recent dispute at the Otahuhu railway workshops: —“It has been brought to our notice that there is a general impression among AS.R.S. members in connection with the dispute at Otahuhu that the AS.RS. placed the matter in the hands of the New Zealand Federation of Labour. This impression is not founded on fact, as the A.S.R.S. did not at any stage of the proceedings decide on such action. The executive is of the opinion that as a union the A S.R.S. is big enough, strong enough and capable enough to handle this or any other dispute which might arise in connection with raiiwajmen or their conditions.”
