WOMEN’S DIVISION
MAUNGATI BRANCH At the monthly meeting of the Maungati branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Mrs Dale presided over a good attendance of members. A letter was received from Miss V. Macmillan, stating that she would be visiting South Canterbury in November, and it was decided to ask her to visit Maungati on November 19. Misses Gladys Hines and Nancy Neale gave an interesting account of their visit to Timaru during the educational week. Mrs Collier gave a very interesting talk on the making of soap, both laundry and toilet, for which she was accorded a vote of thanks. The sum of 10/- was received from members as a donation to the Christmas Cheer Fund for lepers. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames McTague and McDonald. Competitions resulted as follow's: — Rhubarb —Mrs Smith' 1, Mrs Dale 2, Mrs Cookson 3. Handwork —Mrs Jones 1, Miss Barry 2, Mrs Dale and Mrs Swaney (equal) 3. Cooking—Mrs Eggleton 1, Miss Eggleton 2, Mrs Swaney 3. 8100m —Mrs W. McDonald 1, Mrs Dale 2, Mrs Peter 3.
