WEDDING

CROTTY—MACPHAIL A wedding of interest to Banks Peninsula and South Canterbury people was solemnised at St. Andrews Church, Le Bon’s Bay, on October 15, when Trevor Clive, elder son of Mr and Mrs C. J. Crotty, Le Bon’s Bay was married to Myrtle Grace only daughter of Mr and Mrs W. A. Macphail, “Houhere”. Peel Forest. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. F. O. B. Lane assisted by Canon J. F. Coursey, Cashmere Hills. Miss Grace Leonards presided at the organ. Mr Ray Andrews and Mr Ken Dalglish were ushers. The church was decorated by girl friends of the bride with bowls of arum lilies and red anemones. The bride who was escorted by her father wore a frock of ivory satin, and net underskirt with seif-patterned taffeta redingote, gathered with heartshaped neckline, edged with hand worked rouleaux, continuing down the front of the frock. High sleeves sloped to the wrists The worked veil was held in position with a net halo finished with rouleaux to match the frock and a tiny sprig of orange blossom on each side. Miss Hazel Macphail, cousin of the bride, and Miss Joyce Crotty, sister of bridegroom, were the bridesmaids. Their ankle length frocks were of white georgette over taffeta patterned with poppies and conflowers. The bodices were gathered into a heart-shaped neckline and trimmed with a row of covered red buttons down the back. The short sleeves were gathered from the shoulders to the elbows, and a red georgette sash draped from the waistline. They wore red shoes, halos of red poppies and carried bouquets to tone with their frocks. Mr Campbell Macphail, brother of the bride acted as best man and Mr Stan Hewitt was groomsman. Miss Grace Leonards played a solo during the signing of the register. Later the reception was held at the home of the bride’s grandfather, Mr A. A. Macphail. Mrs Macphail, the bride’s mother, received the gut: is wearing a navy georgette ensemble and a light straw hat trimmed with navy velvet ribbon and carried a bouquet of freesias abutilons and cream rose buds. The bridegroom’s mother, Mrs Crotty wore navy costume, cream blouse, navy felt hat and carried a bouquet of red tulips. When the bride left for the weeding tour she wore a navy and white spotted frock with a navy stitched taffeta hat to match.
