PLUNKET SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Timaru Branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday. Present: Mesdames L. M. Inglis (in the chair), H. J. Brewer, •W. Sowerby, G. R. Lee, G. D. Virtue, G. B. Green, J. A. Millar, J. T. O. Stephens, W. G. Tweedy, F. F. A. Ulrich, R. T. Turnbull, F. G. Raymond. It was*decided to send a letter of appreciation to Mr R. J. Runciman for his assistance with the Paddy’s Market. Arrangements for the annual street day appeal were made, members beingasked to collect two cakes each, and the secretary was asked to write to the country representatives 'at St. Andrews, Pareora, Springbrook and Southburn appealing for donations of produce and cakes. Nurse’s Report The nurse (Miss B. F. Hillary) reported that the number of new cases both town and country was as follows.— Breastfed 28, mixed feeding 1, Artificially fed 3; total 32. Visits to homes were —Old cases 184, new cases 60; total 244. Three lectures were given to the Girl Guides. Two visits were paid to St. Andrews. The general health of babies and older children had been good. Visits during the month were.—Central rooms—Adults 333, babies 310, older children 47; total 690. Otipua RoadAdults 34, babies 32, older children 4: total 70. St. Andrews—Adults 3, babies 2, older children 1; total 6. The total for the month was 766.
