HILTON At the October meeting of the Hilton Women’s Institute held on Thursday evening, Mrs B. Patrick, vice-president, presided. A motion of sympathy was passed with Miss Pierce who had suffered a bereavement, members standing in silence. Arrangements were made for the exhibition to be held in Geraldine. Mesdames Patrick and Leary gave a very interesting account of the halfyearly Federation meeting held in Waimate. Mrs Patrick was appointed to attend the formation meeting of the new Federation to be held at Maklkihi on November 17. Competitions resulted.—Duchesse set: Mrs Jones 1. International dressed pegs: Mrs Jones 1, Miss Scott 2. Vase red, white and blue flowers: Miss Scott and Mrs Beaven (equal) 1, Mrs Patrick 2. Best collection shrubs: Mrs Beaven 1, Miss Scott 2.
