SOUTH CANTERBURY CLUB The executive of the South Canterbury Athletic Club has arranged an interesting programme for the opening meeting on Saturday. The following officials have been appointed to control the meeting, which will commence at 2 p.m.: Supervisor, C. N. Hamilton; marshals, C. W. Cameron, A. S. Harper; competition stewards, H. Brown, H. Ward; track judges, E. D. Mcßae, C. H. Miller, Ralph Taylor, M. Leadbetter, E. C. Hetherington, A. A. Grant; field events judges, E. McCubben, C. N. Hamilton, R. Oliphant, Arnold Burrows, T. Morrison, J. M. A. Ritchie; marksmen, C. Hardingham, N. Phillips, W. Davey; starter, J. A. Davey; timekeepers, J. Fraser, F. Dephoff; handicappers, F. King, H. G. Broifti; record stewards, S. Jackson, R. Smith. The meeting is open to all clubs affiliated to the South Canterbury SubCentre. The following programme of handicap events has been arranged: Men’s Events One hundred yards, 220 yards. 440 yards, 880 yards, one mile, 220 yards low hurdles, relay (4 ) 220 yards, throwing the javelin, putting the shot, broad jump. Women’s Events Seventy-five yards, 100 yards, 90 yards hurdles, throwing the javelin, broad jump. Cups will be presented to the competitors gaining the most points in the men’s track events, men’s field events, and women’s events. The juvenile section will be interested in the Guy Fawkes’ Parade which is timed to take place at 2 o’clock. This event is open to all and prizes will be awarded to first, second and third; the judges being Messrs C. N. Hamilton, C. H. Miller and R. Oliphant.
