The Spanish Ambassador, in a Note to the Foreign Office state that Italian intervention was increasing instead of decreasing. It is estimated that apart from the 10,000 withdrawn, 60,000 Infantrymen and artillerymen, members of tank corps, 1000 pilots, 2000 aviation mechanics, also 26,000 technicians and others were still in service with the insurgents. None of the four divisions fiom which 10,000 Italians had been withdrawn, had been dissolved. Eight Italian generals remain. The recent arrivals Included 326 aviators, "375 soldiers, 600 technicians and 1301 Italian planes. The Prime Minister (Mr Neville Chamberlain) stated in the Hous' of Commons that it was the intention of the Government to bring into force the Anglo-Italian agreement as soon as possible. Accordingly the House of .Commons will debate to-morrow Mr Chamberlain’s motion: “That the House welcomes the Government’s intention to bring the Anglo-Italian agreement into force.” A similar motion will be debated in the House of Lords on Thursday. Fifteen shins Including the Arantzazu Mendl, belonging to the Spanish National Government were detained in Britain at the request of the Loyalist Government. It was believed that the judgment concerning the Arantzazu Mendl would decide the fate of the others. Municipal figures issued in Madrid show that 1666 have been killed and 3743 Injured in Madrid air raids and shellings since October 1936. The city was hit by 9590 bombs and shells.
