ORARI BRIDGE

CONCERT AND DANCE A very successful concert arranged by the Orari Bridge branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Hall, prizewinners at the recent competitions held in Timaru contributing a very pleasing and varied programme. The hall was well filled, and judging by the applause the evening’s entertainment was most enjoyable. The following programe was presented: Irish Reel, Misses Orma Ford, Rena Jacobs, Dorothy Lyne, N. Triggs; songs, Betty Lund; recitation, Dorothy Drew; sean triubhais, N. Triggs; character duo, Merrill Wilford and D. King; character recitations, Joan Fitzsimmons; tap.dance, Sid Toneyclffe; action song, Gwenda Griffin; humorous recitation, Dorothy Lyne; duet, Valda Fairbrother and A. Beynon; Irish jig, Merrill Wilford and D. King; skipping dance, Jenny Duncan; song and dance duo, Dorothy Lyne and Rena Jacobs; clog dance, Orma Ford; character duo, Jenny Duncan and Nola Taylor; operatic dance, Dorothea King; humorous duet, Valda Fairbrother and Molly Griffin; trombone solo, D. Smith; tap dance, Dorothy Lyne; Highland fling, Jenny Duncan and Nola Taylor. Mrs D. Lyne (piano) and Mr E. Parker (pipes) were accompanists. At the conclusion of the concert Mrs H. Coulter, president of tb“ Orari Bri '.ge W.D.F.U., thanked the performers for their splendid entertainment and the audience for its patronage. On behalf of the performers, Mr J. Glass responded and expressed the pler-ure of the members of his party at having the opportunity of presenting their concert in the country districts.
