WAIMATE LADIES’ GOLF
Annual Meeting of Club Officers Elected The annual meeting of the Waimate Ladies’ Golf Club was held at the club house on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Waldie presided over a good attendance of members. The annual report and balancesheet, showing a small credit, were adopted. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mrs E. B. Fraser; vicepresidents, Mrs A. Grant and Miss A. Jones; club captain, Mrs N. A. Rattray; vice-captain, Mrs T. Waldie; secretary, Mrs H. Kellett; treasurer, Miss O. Collins; committee, Mesdames G. Ruddenklau, P. Grant, F. Jull, L. Mann, M. Leadbetter and A. E. Dyer. The meeting agreed to fix the subscription the same as last year, and to charge a match entrance fee of 3/to cover entrance in all club competitions. It was decided to approach the members of the men’s club with a suggestion that the fairways be kept mown for summer play. A vote of thanks was passed to the donors of trophies and to the newspapers. BOWLING CLUB MEETING OF COMMITTEE A decision to make a presentation to Mr A. Inkster, who has been a member of the Waimate Bowling Club for the past 40 years, was made at a meeting of the committee on Tuesday evening. Mr Inkster, who tendered his resignation, will be leaving the district shortly. It was decided to hold the presentation on the green at 12.45 p.m. on Saturday. Resignations were accepted with regret from the following members:— Messrs Knell, Inkster, Dumsday and Wyndham. Messrs C. Granger and F. Bailey were elected new members. FRIENDLY SOCIETIES LOYAL WAIMATE LODGE The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Waimate Lodge was held in the Orange Hall on Monday, Bro. E. A. Brown, N.G., presiding over a fair attendance of brothers. Three brothers were reported on the sick list. An invitation was accepted from the Waitea Rebekah Lodge, Temuka, to attend the fifteenth birthday celebrations on November 15. Accounts for sick pay amounting to £3 were passed for payment. PERSONAL The Hon. D. Wilson, M.L.C., arrived in Waimate on Tuesday. Mr D. Mawson, director of town planning, was a visitor to Waimate on Tuesday. Mr P. Hunter, of the Transport Department, Baiclutha, who has been appointed traffic inspector at Waimate, is at present in Waimate and expects to take up his duties officially in a fortnight’s time.
