WINDFALL FOR GOVERNMENT By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, November 1. Tire sum of approximately £200,000 will be the residue of the estate of the late Mrs Marianne Caughy Preston, M.B.E. This money, with a specific bequest of £20,000 is to be devoted to the establishment of a rest home for aged, infirm and impecunious women irrespective of religious beliefs, who have been unexpectedly reduced in circumstances. With this gift is associated part of her residential property at Ponsonby. An unexpected windfall comes to the Government. It is estimated the trustees will be called upon to pay death duties in the vinlcity of £150,000. The estate is valued at £450,000, and bequests and legacies at about £90,000.
