STRUCK BY ENGINE
ELDERLY MAN INJURED Bv Telegraph —Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, November 1. Struck by a shunting engine returning from the port at New Plymouth, Nathaniel Jensen, a retired carpenter, aged 65 years, of New Plymouth, received severe injuries when he was crossing the railway line shortly before 8 o’clock to-night. Jensen received a compound fracture of the thigh and a severe fracture of the skull, and his condition to-night was reported by the New Plymouth hospital to be critical. Rain was falling at the time of the accident, and visibility was poor. An umbrella was found beside Jensen, and it is thought that he may have been carrying it in such a way as to obscure his view of the locomotive.
