WEDDING
SPRIGGS—JONES The marriage of Annie Campbell, eldest daughter of the late Mr A. C. Jones, and Mrs Jones, Hatton Street, and John Heath, son of the late Mr G. Spriggs and Mrs M. Spriggs, Invercargill, took place on Saturday afternoon at Chalmers Church, which was decorated with flowering blossom and spring flowers. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. James Baird, and Mr J. Fraser played the wedding music.
The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr Alec Jones wore a frock of parchment printed crepe de chene with widely flared skirt, with short train falling from a plaited- belt across the waist at the back. The long sleeved bodice was made with a V neck line outlined with a plait of the material with a posy of orange blossom in front. Her veil of embroidered tulle was worn with a spray of orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of freezlas and lily of the valley. The bride’s cousin, Miss Violet Chamberlain acted as bridesmaid, and her niece Miss Lois Leighton was a flower girl. Mr James Butt was best man. Miss Chamberlain’s frock of embroidered Swiss organdi in tones of for-get-me-not blue was made with a very full skirt and bodice shirred in front, with short tucked puff sleeves. She wore a band of flowers in her hair and carried a bouquet to tone with her frock. Pink floral organdi was worn by the little flower girl. Made with an ankle-length skirt and short waisted bodice, with puff sleeves it was finished with a sash of almond green velvet. The band of flowers in her hair matched her Victorian posy. A reception was later held at the Staord Rooms where the guests were received by Mrs Jones, who wore a black wool georgette frock relieved with grey georgette, a black redingote and a black hat with mauve flowers. Matching those in her shoulder spray Mrs Spriggs, mother of the bridegroom, wore a navy coat and skirt and a navy hat. Her shoulder spray was pale pink flowers. For travelling the bride wore a suit of navy blue and a navy hat to match.
