South End Club Annual Meeting The large attendance of members and supporters of the South End Swimming Club at the escond annual meeting, which was held in the South School on Wednesday evening, augurs well for a successful season. Mr A. Wyatt presided, and in moving the adoption of the report, which has been published, congratulated the committee on its untiring and successful efforts during the year. The secretary and club captain were deserving of special mention as much of the success achieved was due to them. Mr F. Chittock, in seconding the adoption, spoke of the successes and good conduct of all members at carnivals and functions, and of the excellent work done by the ladies in the social side of the club. After complimentary reference, the balance sheet, which showed a credit of £lO/6/-, was adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr F. Chittock; president, Mr A. H. Wyatt; vice-presi-dents, Messrs W. G. Tweedy, M. H. Richards, F. B. Hawkey, F. S. Hanson, J. T. O. Stephens, and S. Chittock; club captain, Mr C. De Clifford; deputy-captain, Mr C. Griffiths; judges, Messrs J. T. O. Stephens, C. Brunsden, J. McConnochie; race stewards, Messrs S. Scudder, C. Elsom, Mesdames P. Foden and W. Beynon; auditors, Messrs J. Rodgers and V. Keay; starter, Mr R. E. Peagram; assistant-starter, Mr Jock Fraser; delegates to South Canterbury Swimming Centre, Mr F. C. Chittock and Mr C. De Clifford; trustees, Messrs A. Wyatt and F. Chittock; committee, Messrs J. Rodgers, S. Scudder, J. McConnochie, C. Elsom, Mesdames P. Foden, W. Beynon and Miss J. Wyatt; ladies’ social committee, Mesdames Griffiths, Foden, Beynon, Fowler, Wyatt, Leggott and Miss Leggott; secretary-treasurer, Mr W. Beynon; assistant-secretary, Mr J. Fraser.

Mr G. Griffiths, who filled the position of treasurer during the past year, did not seek re-election. This was regretted and appreciative reference was made to his work while acting in that capdeity. A donation was granted to the Harmonica Band in appreciation of the services they had rendered to the club, and to the South School for the use of a room for meetings. Owing to the uncertainty of the date of opening the Century Baths, the official opening of the season was deferred until a later meeting. The secretary was instructed to forward a letter of sympathy to Mrs P. Foden, who has been an enthusiastic worker for the club since its inception, in her illness, and expressing the wish of all members that she would have a speedy and complete recovery to health.
