MOTORIST FACES CHARGES By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, October 27 Arising out of an accident on the Parnell Road on the evening of September 17, John Irvine Crawford, aged 26 years, a traveller, appeared in the Police Court before Justices of the Peace, to answer four charges, namely, to being intoxicated while in charge of a car, causing bodily harm to Mrs Phyllis Stevenson, failing to stop and ascertain if anyone was injured, and negligently driving, thereby causing bodily injury. Tire Intoxication charge was adjourned sine die. Evidence showed that Mrs Stevenson had been three weeks in the Auckland Hospital with a cut eye, a fracture of the forearm and bruises. The car was proceeding at about 25 miles an hour, and the woman, a pedestrian, was thrown to the roadway, and the car continued on. Later it returned to the scene of the accident, and Crawford told a constable that he thought he had struck something. Crawford pleaded not guilty to three charges, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was renewed.
