BRITISH RESTORING ORDER IN PALESTINE United Press Association —By Flpctric Teleffrunn r , r»nvrle>it JERUSALEM, October 26. Five Arabs have been killed in extensive army operations north of Nazareth. The Arab village of Miar. in the Haifa district, is being demolished as a punishment for sniping and damaging roads. The British force in Palestine at present numbers 18,500 officers and men. Permits have been issued allotting a maximum of 4870 foreign immigrants, mostly Jews, for the six months, ending March 31, 1939.

After blowing up half a dozen houses at Miar the authorities intimated that the punishment would cease if 10 rifles were surrendered within the hour, but they were not forthcoming. The local Arab leader threatened that if further damage were done he would lead 800 Arabs in an attack on battalions of the Royal Kents and Irish Fusiliers, who later located and surrounded a large body of rebels in a cave.
