MEASLES EPIDEMIC

POSITION IN COOK GROUP By Telegraph— Press Association WELLINGTON, October 27 The correspondent of the United Press Association, writing from Rarotonga, says that Rarotonga and Aitutaki are the only islands of the Cook Group that now have measles cases. No deaths resulted from the epidemic. There are four cases under treatment at Rarotonga and three at Aitutaki. The total number of cases to date tn the different islands is as follows: Rarotonga 686, Aitutaki 51, Atiu 35, Penrhyn 114, Manihiki one. The schooner Tui Cakau, under charter to the Government, left Suva recently to visit the northern islands of the Cook Group to remove persons suffering from leprosy to Makogai. From Manihiki eight persons suffering from leprosy were removed, one from Rakahanga, and 34 from Penrhyn. The schooner expects to return to Suva about the end of October.
