SEADOWN
LABOUR DAY TOURNAMENT About 40 players took part in the tennis tournament held on the Seadown courts on Monday. The weather conditions were threatening tn the morning and this prevented many visitors from being present. Play took the form of a handicapped doubles tournament, Mr D. Hopkinson and Miss D. Cargo proving the winners, while Mrs Kelman and Mr L. Edgar were the runners-up. Those who reached the semi-finals and the finals were:—L. Edgar and Mrs Kelman beat K. Sievwright and Miss Hide 31-26, D. Hopkinson and Miss Cargo beat Mrs Cornwell and B. Mahoney 31-23, Mrs Caln and A. Cargo beat Mr Cain and Miss Edgar 31-15, Mr Hughes and Miss O’Connor lost to L. Edgar and Mrs Kelman 23-31, Mrs Cain and A. Cargo lost to D. Hopkinson and Miss Cargo 25-31. Final—Miss D. Cargo and D. Hopkinson beat Mrs Kelman and L. Edgar 31-28.
