EMPLOYEES SEEK NEW AWARD. By telegnyph—Piest Association WELLINGTON, September 29. A warning that It was not much use the dispute proceeding if one of the assessors refused to sign the documents when an agreement was reached was given by the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr M. J. Reardon dining argument in the front of the house theatres case. It arose from Mr A. T. Quealv. the workers’ assessor, Auckland, dissenting from the agreements reached by other assessors, taking his stand on the argument that better conditions obtained in the proposed Auckland award or were being sought. The Commissioner said that Auckland must be prepared to make certain sacrifices where their conditions did not apply in the other four districts concerned. The union assessors, with the exception of Mr Quealy. agreed to the deletion of boxing and wrestling associations. For the employers, Mr Mountjoy said they desired only an award to cover the industry. There would be no difficulty in obtaining a separate award for sports bodies. Mr A. Tongue, workers’ assessor, Christchurch, said that boxing and wrestling had been agreed to at previous hearings. Mr Mountjoy replied that the citing of additional bodies such as racing clubs had complicated the position.
