SEADOWN
At the monthly meeting of the Seadown Women’s Institute Mrs Pemberton presided. One new member was enrolled. It was decided not to enter in the floral bay but in the cut flower section at the half-yearly Federation meeting at Waimate. Mesdames W. Smith, R. J. Edgar, and J. W. Topham were appointed to supervise all arrangements. During the afternoon Mrs Shallcrass gave a very useful and practical demonstration of first-aid work for which she was accorded a vote of thanks. The competitions resulted as follows: Thrift article, Mrs Pemberton 1, Mrs McCully 2. Juniors, Miss Brosnahan 1, Plate small cakes, seniors, Mrs Cain 1, Mrs Brosnahan 2; juniors, Miss Hide 1 and 2. Vase of shrubs, seniors, Mrs Smith 1, Mrs Brosnahan 2; juniors, Miss Edgar 1, Miss Brosnahan 2.. Premier bloom, seniors, Mrs Cain 1, Mrs McCully 2; juniors, Miss Brosnahan 1. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames W. Cain and S. Cargo.
