SOCIAL NOTES

Mr and Mrs G. Innes-Jones, June Street, are spending a holiday at Peel Forest. Dr and Mrs G. H. Ussher, Sefton Street, returned yesterday from a visit to Hanmer. Miss Edith Winslow, Roxborough, is the guest of Mrs J. E. P. Cameron, Glen-itl. Miss Eleanor Cleland and Miss Joyce Humphrey, who were the guests of Mrs James Cleland, Bidwill Street, have returned to Dunedin. Mrs F. Brittan, Christchurch, who is staying with her sister, Mrs Hugh Macfarlane, Waikora, Waihaorunga, will return home on Saturday. Miss Clarke, who has been Child Welfare Officer in Timaru for the last four years will leave to-day for her new post at Whangarei. At Holy Trinity Pro-Cathedral, Suva, Fiji, the wedding took place recently of Maximus Joseph Bay and Irene Allison, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs F. C. Beeson, Brisbane, and formerly of Warwick, Queensland. The bridegroom is well known in New Zealand hockey circles. The bride, who was escorted by the Hon. A. H. Phillips, Acting Director of Education, Fiji, wore a charming afternoon frock of delphinium blue matone, with a shoulder spray of pink and blue flowers, a wide-brimmed toning h .t and parchment shaded accessories. Following the ceremony, Mrs A. H. Phillips received the guests at a reception at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
