Czech and Poles in Conflict Rights of Minority Demanded WARSAW’S REPLY TO PRAGUE United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received September 27, 11.30 p.m.) WARSAW, September 27. A semi-official agency reports that five Czech gendarmes were killed and 15 wounded in a battle with Poles at Teschen. Other reports state that Poles attacked arsenals, seizing arms and ammunition, while hundreds of conscripts have gone to the forest to avoid mobilisation with the result that all farm work is at a standstill. Prague has no confirmation of the incidents except a report that nine Poles were arrested for smuggling arms across the border. Cabinet considered the Czech reply to the demand for the return of Teschen and stated that the reply does not make any new contribution and therefore it can be regarded as negative. Officials regard negotiations as temporarily broken off.
