GERMAN TRADE
DEVELOPMENT SOUGHT IN DOMINIONS United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, July 12. The Australian Associated Press understands that an early move Is expected from Germany for the expansion of German-Dominion trade. The German Government, as a sequel to the recent Anglo-German payments agreement, has already asked for duty concessions on imports to the United Kingdom, in addition to concessions in certain British overseas territories. The latter comprise the entire British Colonial Empire, excepting the East African possessions, covered under the Congo-Basin Treaty, concerning which a German delegation interviewed the Colonial Office, seeking substantial concessions.
This development, immediately on top of the debt agreement, is regarded as of considerable significance. It accords a growing belief that the selfsufficiency plan is not working as well as it was intended, for which reason Germany is seeking a larger share of international trade.
It is gathered that Britain is primarily folding its hand, pending a Czecho-Slovakian settlement. If this car. be achieved peacefully by English, French, German and Czecho-Slovakian co-operation, Britain will be ready for immediate negotiations with Germany.
