HAWKER FINED
INTOXICATED IN CHARGE OF CAR By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, July 9. “The time when people who depend for their livelihood on their cars, could put that fact forward as an excuse is gone,” said the Magistrate, Mr L. C. Levvey, this morning, fining Samuel Francis Garland (52), fruit hawker. £l5 for being intoxicated in charge of a motor car. The licence was cancelled and Garland was declared unfit to hold another until June 1. 1939. Counsel said Garland depended o.i his car for his livelihood, and was prepared to take out a prohibition order.
