PACIFIC ISLANDS
HITCH IN ANGLO-AMERICAN NEGOTIATIONS United Press Association —Bv Electric Telegraph —Copyright LONDON, July 8 • Although regarded as virtually settled months ago the arrangements to share the control between Britain, the United States, and the Dominions of Enderbury and Canton Islands has again been held up, consequently the trans-Pacific air services have been further delayed. The Australian Associated Press understands that the United States Ambassador in London (Mr Kennedy) took back to Washington an amended scheme, which it is hoped would be approved, but Mr Kennedy has returned to London with a document showing that the United States is raising the question of the jurisdiction and sovereignty of other Pacific Islands. Britain desired an early .settlement of the question of control of Canton and Enderbury Islands, and would defer the other islands until later.
