PLEASANT VALLEY

TO-MORROW’S GYMKHANA At a well attended meeting it was decided to hold the postponed gymkhana to-morrow. The original programme, and the Maori events were approved. It was reported that good entries were being received for the national dancing events. Owing to the large number of entries in the trotting contests it was decided to increase the stakes and to add an event for registered horses. It was reported that a number of local horses are in training for the draught horse trotting cup. Following the Peel Forest trials, it is anticipated that dog events will prove an attraction. WELCOME HOME DANCE An enjoyable evening was spent in the Pleasant Valley hall, when residents and friends met to welcome home Mr and Mrs J. Mulvey, jun. Mr J. Brophy and Mr T. Robinson on behalf of those present extended good wishes to Mr and Mrs Mulvey, and thanked them for a most enjoyable evening. Music for dancing was supplied by Mr C. Kelland, and extras were played by Mrs J. Sharpe, Miss McEvey and Mr J. Gregan. Noveltydances were won by Mrs G. Tiplady and Mr J. Brophy, and Miss D. Leary and Mr W. Payne. Mr T. Robinson was M.C.
